About us

This online tool is developed by Learning Analytics Laboratory (LA Lab) that operates under the Faculty of Organization and Informatics (FOI), University of Zagreb, Croatia. Our interdisciplinary research team consists of researchers from informatics, mathematics, statistics but also from educational sciences as well as highly skilled professionals and holds rich project and research experience within learning design, learning analytics and closely related areas.

Terms of Service and privacy policy

These are the Terms of Service governing the use of this Service and the agreement that operates between You and the Faculty of Organization and Informatics, Learning Analytics Laboratory (hereafter FOI LA Lab). These Terms of Service set out the rights and obligations of all users regarding the use of the Service.

By agreeing to these Terms of Service, You agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and you will be able to continue to use the Service.  If You disagree with any part of these Terms of Service, You may not access the Service and you can request that your data is deleted.

Your access to the Service and its use is also conditioned by Your acceptance of the Privacy Policy and compliance with it. Our Privacy Policy describes Our policies and procedures on the collection, use and disclosure of Your personal information when You use the Service and tells You about Your privacy rights and how the law protects You. Please read Our Privacy Policy carefully before using Our Service.

You have the right to withdraw Your consent. The withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of any data processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

Terms of service

Who may use this Service

This service is available free of charge to any registered user. It is intended to be used by all the stakeholders interested in learning design, especially teachers, learning design researchers, policy-makers and business managers. By using the system, You are helping Us to further advance Our learning design methodology and the service itself. 

Using the Service

Our Service is part of an ongoing research activity in the field of learning design. Due to that, it is possible that the Service will change over time based on research results, evaluations and requests for changes from our users.  The Service is provided to You "AS IS'' and "AS AVAILABLE" and with all faults and defects without warranty of any kind. Without limitation to the foregoing, the FOI LA Lab provides no warranty or undertaking, and makes no representation of any kind that the Service will meet Your requirements, achieve any intended results, be compatible or work with any other software, applications, systems, or services, operate without interruption, meet any performance or reliability standards or be error free or that any errors or defects can or will be corrected.

When You create an account, You must provide Us the information that is accurate, complete, and current at all times. Failure to do so constitutes a breach of the Terms, which may result in immediate termination of Your account on Our Service. All user accounts and usage of the system is monitored to prevent exploits of the Service, underlying IT infrastructure and to protect Our users from potential threats and misuse of their data.  

Created content (learning designs)

Our Service allows You to create learning designs for Your courses. To support this, it allows You to upload documents and post text. You are responsible for the content that You post, including its legality, reliability, and appropriateness. You may not post any content that is unlawful, offensive, upsetting, intended to disgust, threatening, libelous, defamatory, obscene or otherwise objectionable. 

If detected, any inappropriate content will be deleted, and Your account suspended. 

The FOI LA Lab is not responsible for the content entered by the users. You expressly understand and agree that You are solely responsible for the content and for all activity that occurs under your account and your created content, whether done so by You or any third person that You invited to contribute to the development of Your courses.

Intellectual Property Infringement
We respect the intellectual property rights of others. It is Our policy to respond to any claim that content posted on the Service infringes a copyright or other intellectual property infringement of any person. If You are a copyright owner, or authorized on behalf of one, and You believe that the copyrighted work has been copied in a way that constitutes copyright infringement that is taking place through the Service, You must submit Your notice in writing via learning-design@foi.hr.

Changes to These Terms of Service

We reserve the right, at Our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is substantial, We will make reasonable efforts to provide at least 15 days notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a substantial change will be determined at Our sole discretion. New terms will be published under the new version and previous terms will be available for the reference. 

By agreeing to new Terms of service and continuing with use Our Service after those revisions become effective, You agree to be bound by the revised terms. If You do not agree to the new terms, you will be able to indicate this and request deletion of your data. 

Termination

If You breach these Terms of Service, We may terminate Your Account immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation. Upon termination, Your right to use the Service will cease immediately and your data will be deleted shortly after (allowing time to process the request). 


Privacy policy

At the Faculty of Organization and Informatics, University of Zagreb,  we take online privacy seriously and we take every reasonable step to ensure the privacy of our users.  In this document we will outline our privacy practices in a clear and understandable way. 

Personal data that we collect

Personal data refers to any information that relates to an individual that would enable that person to be directly or indirectly identified. In that context we collect, use and store following personal data: 

  • Name and contact details that You provide during registration

  • Optional affiliation data and short bio (if entered)

  • Your IP address and some general usage statistics (operating system, browser type, screen resolution)

  • Necessary cookies (cookies that enable you to login)

  • All course design related data (if they contain any personal information entered by users)

Usage of the personal data

Since this Service is developed in the scope of several research projects, We maintain the possibility to use Your data for research purposes. Research data collection and analysis is coordinated by University of Zagreb, Faculty of Organization and Informatics, Laboratory for Learning Analytics. Gathered data may be made available to national and international research partners strictly for research purposes and only after anonymization. Any research conducted by using Your data will relate to advancing our Learning Design methodology and corresponding online tool with utmost regard to user privacy. 

Storing personal data

All the data, including personal data is stored at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of organization and informatics, Varaždin, Croatia (within EU). Data is stored in a protected and secure environment with all necessary and reasonable security procedures in place. 

Data retention

Due to the nature of the Service, all of Your data will be stored in the system until You decide to request its deletion. After that, all related data (profile, course designs) will be permanently deleted from Our system. Related to course designs, only course designs for which You are the main “creator” (owner) will be deleted. Course designs that You contributed to will not be deleted until requested by their “creator” (owner).

Under EU data protection legislation, You have the following rights:

If You wish to exercise any of these rights, You can do so by contacting our Data Protection Officer. To delete your data, You can request it through our online request form.
